JAMES MCCARTHY

James McCarthy embarked on his career in private lending in 2013 as an originator for a direct lender. Over the span of five years, he ascended to a partnership role, driving monthly lending volumes from $10 million to over $50 million. Taking a hiatus in 2018 to focus on personal growth, James returned in 2019 to establish a hard money lending division for a prominent private equity firm.

Hard money loans are available in many states, though specifics can vary.

When exploring hard money loans, it's essential to understand several key factors. Understanding how does hard money work involves recognizing that these loans are asset-based, focusing on the value of the collateral rather than creditworthiness. Firstly, the minimum credit score for hard money loans is often more flexible and lenient compared to traditional financing. If you're wondering, how long does it take to get a hard money loan, the process is generally quicker, typically ranging from a few days to a couple of weeks. How much leverage can I get with a hard money loan depends on experience but can range from up to 100% purchase and not to exceed 75% ARV often allowing for higher leverage than conventional loans. Interest rates for hard money loans are usually higher due to the increased risk taken by lenders.
